Factoids:

The Beat's first end of year poll was conducted in 1990.

Since then, well over 350,000 people have sent in excess of two million responses!

Previous years' favourites have included Mumford and Sons, Elbow, Oasis, R.E.M., Coldplay Underworld and Kylie Minogue!

The original poll was carried out using paper forms; this took The Beat team over two weeks to key in working around the clock. Thank goodness for t'internet!
